Bringing Ayn Rand to Germany
The revolutionary ideas of Ayn Rand, the Russian-American writer and philoshoper, are more appealing today than they were in the 1950s. Copies of her books today sell by the hundreds of thousands, they are shipped all over the world and have been translated in all major – and minor – languages. So who better to explain the question why this is than Ayn Rand’s greatest proponent and advocate Dr. Yaron Brook?
On my invitation, Dr. Brook visited the Central German City of Halle (Saale) on 30 October 2014 to give a talk in the ancient rooms of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He not only presented his Book “The Free Market Revolution – How Ayn Rands Ideas Can End Big Government” but also introduced the unique and once-in-a-century writer to a wider German audience.
Dr. Brook mainly answers the question “Why?”. Why do we have a welfare state? Why do we have redistributing state? Why do we have a regulatory state? Why are we as the West moving more and more away from freedom and free-market capitalism? What is it that, ultimately, drives the “engineering” of our social-political setup of community and state?
